Clitheroe Food Festival

cffThree local businesses get us excited for a food festival frenzy.

The fifth annual Clitheroe Food Festival is due to take place on August 8th, with a glorious range of delicious foods from the finest local food producers, handpicked from around the county.

In the lead up to the highly anticipated event, three Lancashire businesses have come together to launch the festivities with a sponsored garden party at Lord and Lady Clitheroe’s Downham Hall, which played host to over 150 hungry and thirsty guests.

With his wealth of experience in on location and event photography, Martin was invited to photograph the event, capturing the exciting spirit of the atmosphere, as well as documenting some of the marvellous food and drink that was on offer, helping to promote the upcoming festival with a taste of what’s to come.

The event included services from its three sponsors: a grand barbecue and seafood dishes from the Seafood Pub Company, real ales brewed by Thwaites, and branding from Barnfield Construction. Each sponsor has a great reputation in their own field, and the event was an excellent opportunity to showcase what each has to offer.

The Seafood Pub Company run the Assheton Arms in Downham, a traditional country inn that specialises in family dining, and which has been the winner of some well deserved awards, including Lancashire Life Dining Pub of the Year, and Ribble Valley Tourism Team of the Year.

Thwaites run cosy inns in Lancashire, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Lake District, and have won awards for Best Accommodation Operator, and Tourism Pub of the Year 2012-2013, amongst others. Whilst Barnfield Construction are currently erecting the steel frames for the new Aldi and Pet at Home Stores coming soon to Clitheroe.

The festival will also host fun food-based activities, live music from a crop of fabulous local acts, and a range of different fringe events, including, the fine art, sculpture and craftsmanship show.

Clitheroe Food Festival has always been a great chance for the town to put itself on the map, and show the public what it has to offer as a fantastic place to visit for tourists, and a beautiful place to live. The town hosts a range of superb shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes, as well as other tourist attractions, and the festival really promotes such an inviting selection.
